WonderDads Activity Guide: Giveaway

You may think we're all about the moms here, but we know how many of you great dads are looking for ideas, too, so we're really not all estrogen. Promise. In fact, we have a great little giveaway for you all this week.

A new book was just published called WonderDads: The Best Dad & Child Activities in the Triangle. With the subtitle "Be a Hero!"

This little book is svelt, succinct, and great. At only 100 short pages, it is full of lists. The front of the book lists the Top 5s (Top 5 Dad/Child Parks, Top 5 Dad/Child Things to do on a Rainy Day, etc.). Then the rest of the book is divided by restaurants, activities, stores, parks, unique adventures, and sporting events.

There are a lot of ideas in here. But they aren't detailed. They will give you the list and the contact information, but no real details. We like to think that that would be what a certain humble blog (ahem ahem) is for.

And this truly is for places all around the Triangle. It hits spots in all the major cities.

This book was just published so it is very current. But as with anything in print, and as we have learned from so many closings around the Triangle this year, books have the potential to get outdated. With this book, though, you get 1 year of free Smartphone access to the website information. But still always check before you go, or stay tuned to a certain humble blog... Really this is a great book to own. (Pssst- moms, although it says its all about dads, the information is great and we think you should get a copy, too!)

So we are at the best part: where we give one of you lucky readers a copy of this book!

Since WonderDads lists a lot of family restaurants, we're asking you to tell us your favorite place to eat with kids. And that's your entry. We'll pick the winner at random from all the entries at noon on Sunday, Marcy 27th.

Our favorite place to eat with our 16-month-old son is Tijuana Flats (http://www.tijuanaflats.com/). They have a great kid menu, the staff is so friendly, they offer a coloring page and four crayons, and come to your table to get refills for you. It's a quick order at the counter place, then find your seat and they'll bring the meal to you. It's loud enough that you won't be embarrassed if your child makes some noise and there are so many colorful things that are of interest for the younger kids to check out. We love it!

We love Mellow Mushroom in Raleigh, especially when the weather starts to get warmer. Great pizza and the best pretzels around!

Stay at home dad here.. So far our little one is too little to eat real food but we immensely enjoyed our time at Fullsteam brewery. That place is awesome for families!

We love the Flying Burrito in CH - they have sheets to color and crayons, kid food, patient waitpeople, and margaritas. What else do you need?

We're also fans of EVOS. My son loves it and I don't feel so guilty eating burgers and fries! We also really enjoy The Loop as a family!

Elmo's is great! We have become big fans of Monterey in Chapel Hill - friendly staff, inexpensive entrees and coloring pages to keep the kids busy.

Our little guy is a fan of the State Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh. There's always a ton of noise, and he keeps busy watching all the activity around him.

Hiya.... I'm the author of the book and just wanted to drop a line to say thanks for the note.

Also, here's a link to an article in last Sunday's Durham News section of the Raleigh News and Observer, if you want to learn more about the book: http://www.thedurhamnews.com/2011/04/03/206176/guidebook-tells-dads-where-to.html?story_link=email_msg
